Bill Belichick, Multiple Patriots Legends to Roast Tom Brady

Tom Brady has retired from the NFL, and his superstardom has transcended the game of football. The arguably greatest football player of all time has appeared in multiple shows and movies like “Ted,” a Dunkin’ commercial with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, and TV shows such as “Entourage.”

Brady has certainly carved out a role in showbusiness on top of being a phenom in the sports world, and that stardom has now led to him getting the comedy roast treatment. During the upcoming Netflix is a Joke Festival, Brady will get his own show at the Forum in Inglewood, California. The aptly titled “The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady” will air live on Netflix on May 5, and be chock full of stars and comedians on stage dishing out their best shots.

Comedian and film star Kevin Hart will host the event, and be joined by fellow comedian and “Roastmaster General” Jeff Ross. Joining the comedians on stage to hurt insults at Brady will be multiple Patriots legends.

According to Adam Schefter, Randy Moss, Julian Edelman, Drew Bledsoe, and Rob Gronkowski will be part of the former Patriots dynasty that will be able to roast their former colleague. Even more surprising is that Brady will not only deal with his former teammates, but his former coach as well.

Gregg Rosenthal also indicated that former Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will be among those on stage as a roaster. Belichick isn’t exactly the funniest person around, so it will be interesting to see him on stage with jokes prepared to take down Brady.

The comedy roast is generally used for those individuals who come from the comedy scene and are being honored by their colleagues with a night of laughter. Brady isn’t a comedian by trade, but he’ll join an impressive list of figures who have been given the treatment — singer Justin Bieber, actress Pamela Anderson, and former President Donald Trump.

The jokes about Brady might involve the infamous “tuck rule” that was created during the 2001 AFC Divisional Playoff where the Patriots and Raiders faced off. Brady was tackled by cornerback Charles Woodson, resulting in a fumble recovered by defensive tackle Greg Biekert. Despite being initially ruled a fumble, officials claimed Brady stopped his throwing motion and “tucked” the ball into his body, and was thus deemed an incomplete pass.

The rule itself was plenty criticized as a would-be fumble was taken back, allowing New England to win and advance in the playoffs. Many have since stated that the occurrence was a fumble, including Brady himself.

Other jokes will fly at Brady’s expense. (Gisele, anyone?) At least he will have his former teammates on stage with him, although this time they’ll be in position to go for his proverbial jugular.
