LAKAT, the artisanal handwoven sneaker brand made of pineapple fiber and Philippine cotton, has collaborated with three young international Filipino artists to produce art that you can wear — a pair of sneakers that’s ethically sourced and locally produced.
A historical fashion collaboration unfolds with Lak+Art
Visionary young artists Garapata (Dex Fernandez), Liliana Manahan and Doktor Karayom were invited by Lakat to use their sustainable sneakers as a canvas for “wearable art.” The result turns out to be the limited edition Lak+Art shoe series, which features each of their signature characters and distinctive artistic vision.
A private preview of the illustrations was held at Elbert’s Collective in Salcedo Village, Makati City on February 6.
The new sneaker series will be exclusively available at the upcoming Art Fair 2024 this coming February 16 to 18. Walk our way toward the fourth floor of The Link in Ayala Center. The Lakat booth is located in the free admission section.
