Caelan Doris has emerged as an injury doubt for Ireland’s Six Nations meeting with Wales.
The back-row sat out training at the team’s Abbotstown base this morning, along with Iain Henderson, who picked up a foot injury while playing for Ulster at the weekend.
A member of the Ireland coaching team is due to give an update to reporters this afternoon.
Doris captained the team against Italy and trained with the team at the end of last week but stood to the side in trainers at today’s session.
Andy Farrell would likely bring Josh van der Flier back into the No 7 shirt for the clash with Warren Gatland’s side if the Mayo man misses out, with Jack Conan hanging on to the No 8 jersey.
Ireland are already set to be without a key pillar of their side with Hugo Keenan almost certainly out of the game with a knee issue.
Keenan was named in the squad for the Wales game but did not train with the team this morning and Ciarán Frawley is in line to start at full-back for the first time in his absence.
Garry Ringrose is expected to be available again, while Peter O’Mahony, Bundee Aki and Tadhg Furlong are also set to be in contention after sitting out the Italy game.
