In a move that came as a surprise to many, PWHL Ottawa has parted ways with forward Mikyla Grant-Mentis.
PWHL Ottawa released Grant-Mentis Saturday night. The 25-year-old has three assists in six games for Ottawa this season, but had not appeared in a game for Ottawa since January 27. She was a healthy scratch in each of Ottawa’s games in February.
In her place, PWHL Ottawa has signed Rosalie Demers to a standard player agreement. Demers, 23, was a reserve for Ottawa. Last season she recorded three points in 20 games for Team Harvey’s in the PWHPA.
Grant-Mentis was signed as a free agent with Ottawa out of training camp. Last season she scored 21 points in 24 games with the PHF’s Buffalo Beauts.
PWHL Ottawa has lost their last five games and currently sits last overall in the PWHL.
