SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Still wintry Tuesday around CNY, but then the warming trend resumes with rain not snow. Details are below…
Turns a bit snowy Tuesday
A widespread wet snowfall moves in late Tuesday morning through Tuesday evening. The combination of an approaching cold front from the north and disturbance moving in from the west will be the culprits of the wet snow Tuesday/Tuesday night.
Periods of snow taper to a few rain showers late Tuesday night and possibly a bit of freezing rain, especially over the hills south of Syracuse where there’s a Winter Weather Advisory in effect Tuesday through the start of Wednesday.
In these areas south of Syracuse a glazing to a tenth of an inch of icing is possible along with an inch or two of snow, possibly a bit more over the hills.
The main roads should be just wet with a bit of slush, but side streets could get somewhat sloppy Tuesday afternoon and evening.
A slushy coating to an inch or two of wet snow is expected across much of CNY through Tuesday night, but upwards of 3 or 4 inches is possible up around the Tug Hill and Adirondacks and hills south of Syracuse.
Have umbrellas ready later this week
A stalled front hangs out near CNY mid to late this week acting as railroad tracks for a few waves of low pressure to move along. These areas of low pressure will produce occasional rain later Wednesday through Friday, so be sure to have the umbrella/rain jacket handy.
