Vodafone Lite plan | 40GB data | AU$40p/m

If you’re not keen on committing to a phone contract, we think Vodafone’s AU$40 Lite plan should offer enough data at an affordable price point for most users. Along with 40GB of data, you’ll also get unlimited calls and text to standard numbers in Australia. Access to Vodafone’s 5G network comes as standard too, though it’s in the early stages of rolling out.

Total minimum cost is AU$40

iPhone 13 (128GB) | 40GB data | 24 months | AU$96.20p/m

Vodafone is the cheapest place to get the iPhone 13 if you’re buying from one of the big three telcos. We’d recommend pairing the phone with the AU$40 Lite plan to set yourself up with 40GB of data a month – on a 24-month contract, that’ll see you pay AU$96.20 each billing. If you find you need more data, you can always jump up to Vodafone’s Lite+ plan, which will get you 80GB of data for an extra AU$5 a month.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,308.80

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra (128GB) | 40GB data | 24 months | AU$96.20p/m

The brilliant S21 Ultra is our favourite phone, with its five cameras and incredibly sleek looks. We think the AU$40 Lite plan offers the best value, as you’ll pay AU$96.20 each month for the phone and 40GB of data. Because Vodafone’s plans come with no lock-in contract, it’s easy enough to move up to the Lite+ plan for an extra AU$5 a month if you find yourself needing more data.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,308.80

For Apple’s cheapest iPhone, we think pairing it with Vodafone’s AU$40 Lite plan is a pretty compelling option. It’ll get you an iPhone SE in red, black or white for just AU$68.29 a month, and a decent 40GB of data to play with. Unlimited standard national calls and text in Australia are included.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE (128GB) | 40GB data | 24 months | AU$77.45p/m

There are cheaper Android options out there, but if you want a phone with a powerful processor that takes great photos for a reasonable price, the S20 FE is one to consider. We’d recommend pairing it with Vodafone’s AU$40 Lite plan, as that’ll set you up with 40GB of data for AU$77.45 a month. This is a 5G-capable phone as well, so you’ll be able to use Vodafone’s 5G network in areas where it’s available.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$1,858.80

Best premium phone + plan combos

iPhone 13 Pro Max (128GB) | 80GB data | 24 months | AU$122.04p/m

Apple’s all-new flagship is cheapest at Vodafone, so if you’re wanting to snag the iPhone 13 Pro Max, then consider matching it with Vodafone’s Lite+ plan. That’ll see you pay AU$122.04 a month for 80GB of data on a 24-month contract. If you find 80GB isn’t enough for you, an extra AU$10 a month can bump you up to 200GB of data.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,928.96

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 (128GB) | 80GB data | 24 months | AU$107.45p/m

For something a little outside the mainstream, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a futuristic take on a throwback. Pair it with Vodafone’s AU$45 Lite+ plan and you’ll get 80GB of data a month to play with. All told, the repayment plan will set you back AU$107.45 each month for this flippable phone.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,278.80
