PETALING JAYA: PKR will file a police report and a complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission over a social media posting alleging that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had channelled royalty funds for Kelantan and Terengganu into the party’s accounts.

PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil refuted the claim, saying the party discloses its audited financial accounts at every PKR congress.

“There are individuals uploading fake and defamatory posts, which are extremely disgusting,” he said in a Facebook post today.

“There has never been an amount as alleged deposited into PKR’s account.

“I have directed for a police report and a complaint to be immediately filed with the MCMC against the individual spreading this malicious slander.”

The allegation surfaced on Thursday in a public Facebook group called “Jabatan Netizen Negara”.

“No wonder Kelantan and Terengganu did not receive royalties. It seems that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim took this royalty money and deposited it into PKR party accounts. Billion of ringgit,” the social media user wrote in the post.

On Monday, the finance ministry said Putrajaya had disbursed goodwill grants of RM172.3 million to the Terengganu state government and RM58.6 million to Kelantan to finance the state governments’ emoluments commitment.

A further RM103.1 million in federal funds was allocated to Terengganu for it to pay its contractors, the ministry added.

Both Kelantan and Terengganu menteri besars, Nassuruddin Daud and Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, have thanked the federal government for the payments.
