Russian terrorists may have targeted Kyiv with 48N6 missiles from the S-400 system tonight, according to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andrii Yermak.

“At the moment, it is known that the enemy may have attacked Kyiv with 48N6 missiles from the S-400 system,” wrote Yermak.

He said that the Russian target is a critical infrastructure object.

“We know what they are trying to hit,” added the head of the President’s Office.

The 48N6 missiles

The Russian S-400 air defense system includes the 48N6 missile, capable of striking targets within a radius of up to 200 km. These missiles follow a ballistic trajectory, making them difficult to detect in a timely manner.

The 48N6 missile and its upgraded versions have a semi-active homing head and destruction ranges for aerial targets: 150 km for 48N6, 200 km for 48N6M, and 250 km for 48N6DM. The weight of the warhead is 145, 150, and 180 kg, respectively.

Such a missile can be effective against stationary ground targets, such as unprotected warehouses, personnel in open areas, vehicles in open terrain, and infrastructure objects.

Missile attack on Kyiv on December 13

Tonight, Russians attacked Kyiv with missiles. A series of explosions occurred in the left bank area of the capital. An air raid alert was declared after the explosions.

The enemy launched 10 missiles at the capital (the S-400 and Iskander). All targets were successfully intercepted by Ukrainian air defense forces.

The missiles didn’t hit anywhere directly in Kyiv, but there is damage in at least three districts due to falling debris. According to the latest data, 53 people were affected as a result of the attack, including children.

RBC-Ukraine correspondent visited the site of falling Russian missile debris and reported more on the consequences of the attack.
