Last week, West Virginia received a commitment from Old Dominion safety transfer Tahj Ra-El following his official visit. One day after announcing his pledge to the program, he rescinded his commitment and re-opened his recruitment.
Saturday, Ra-El announced another commitment, this time to Memphis.
The commitments from Anthony Wilson and Aubrey Burks to return to the program in 2024 played a part in this decision, but was not the sole reason.
In 2022, he earned more playing time on defense and made the most of it recording 40 tackles and one pass breakup which positioned him to become a starter in 2023. This past season, Ra-El totaled 84 tackles, six passes defended, 5.5 tackles for loss, and one interception.
