Belarus-Grenze: Ungarn kritisiert EU-Haltung zu Grenzzäunen

Ungarns Aussenminister Peter Szijjarto hat angesichts der illegalen Migration über die Belarus-Grenze den baltischen Staaten und Polen seine Solidarität bekundet. Bei einem Besuch in Estland kritisierte er am Mittwoch zugleich die Haltung der EU zum Bau von Zäunen an der EU-Aussengrenze.

“Wenn wir den Bürokraten und Kommissaren in Brüssel zuhören, die sich gegen Zäune an unseren Grenzen aussprechen, stellen wir uns manchmal die Frage, ob diese Menschen auf demselben Planeten mit uns leben”, sagte Szijjarto nach einem Treffen der Aussenminister von neun östlichen Nato-Staaten in Tallinn.

Die Regierungen in Lettland, Litauen und Polen beschuldigen den belarussischen Machthaber Alexander Lukaschenko, in organisierter Form Flüchtlinge aus Krisenregionen an die EU-Aussengrenze zu bringen. Lukaschenko hatte Ende Mai angekündigt, dass Minsk Migranten nicht mehr an der Weiterreise in die EU hindern werde – als Reaktion auf verschärfte westliche Sanktionen gegen sein Land. Seitdem mehren sich Meldungen über versuchte illegale Grenzübertritte an den EU-Aussengrenzen zu Belarus.

Polen, Litauen und Lettland haben darauf mit verstärktem Grenzschutz reagiert und mit dem Bau von Hunderten Kilometern Grenzzaun begonnen. Auf EU-Ebene hatte es zuletzt Debatten darüber gegeben, ob Zäune das richtige Mittel gegen unerwünschte Migration sind. “Wir sind derzeit mit Migrationsdruck aus zwei Richtungen konfrontiert. An den Druck aus dem Süden haben wir uns leider gewöhnt, jetzt aber müssen wir auch Erfahrungen mit Druck aus dem Osten machen”, sagte Szijjarto.

Nach Angaben Szijjartos ist Migration “gegenwärtig ein noch gefährlicheres Phänomen” als zuvor. Ungarn werde die Grenzen daher weiterhin sehr stark schützen. Zur Abschreckung von Migranten errichtete die Regierung in Budapest in der Flüchtlingskrise 2015 Zäune an seinen Grenzen zu Serbien und Kroatien.
