Beginner beaders tackle brick stitching
Today we are doing a beginners reading workshop at Muscles Library. They will be learning brick stitching. So just pull it. There, that’s where we’re supposed to be right now. Brick stitching is like a type of beading where you don’t beat onto any materials, you just beat freely. So my earrings are an example of brick stitching. You’re gonna need like a arm’s length. An arm’s length. You’re not gonna tie any knots. Don’t tie any knots. Beadwork was like for me, a way to ground myself and and like fully embody the things that I need because a lot of it is like working with your hands and it’s a very tactile like experience. We’re gonna start by 5 beats. Still can’t believe we don’t have the way. My late dad was a beater. That’s when I seen my sister’s outfit that my late grandma had half made. And yeah, that’s what got me beating. I do have family members that beat. I’m pretty sure my auntie does. Yeah, she was the one who taught me before. Yeah, so we’re waiting for them. It’s a little late start, but that’s OK Everyone is entitled to beat and everyone is entitled to tell their stories. OK, watch this you guys go back to finish the loop. And I feel like the work is another form of storytelling, and that’s something that I want to, you know, help other people understand.
