A unique home completely decked out in black and with a large ‘18’ on the front lawn has broken the Baulkham Hills suburb record by half a million dollars at a memorable auction.
The Daniel Ave residence
had been one of the most popular homes in recent weeks on realestate.com.au before it sold for $3.06 million.

It is also the third time this year a house has gone past the former $2.48 million benchmark set all the way back in 2015 by 41 Park Rd.
Four of the five registered bidders took part in the auction in front of an energised crowd of about 250 people. The buyer was in the box seat from the get go making strong confident bids in hope of knocking off the competition.
“While others were looking to raise the price in $25,000 increments, the buyer was going up in $100,000 allotments,” Jay Bacani of Manor Real Estate said.

The buyer was a local young family who by all accounts were not overly thrilled with the black design at the first open home.
“They hated the house with its black design when they first saw it,” Mr Bacani said.
“After about the third time of inspecting the house, it has started to grow on them, but I believe they are looking to paint some of the walls white.”
Inspired by a Balinese resort, the home attracted over 400 groups including plenty of neighbours coming for a sticky beak due to the black design, something rarely seen in homes.

“It is the first house that I’ve ever seen like it before, and a lot of locals wanted to check it out because they had it took three years for owners to finish it, ”Mr Bacani said.
“People loved it or hated it, but the more they saw it, the more people started to appreciate the design.”
Sitting in a cul-de-sac, the home at 18 Daniel Ave has 2.7m high ceilings and large floor-to-ceiling windows. It has a heated spa, a cabana with fully equipped gym and a large ‘number 18’ in the front garden.

The see-through timber staircase is a major feature, as is the chandelier and 3.3m built-in fireplace. The Italian designed kitchen has a teppanyaki plate, two built-in dishwashers and butler’s pantry.
The main bedroom has a private balcony, ensuite and walk-in wardrobe with custom built cabinetry.
The sellers are now looking to replicate the house on a much larger scale in Dural.
