Crime in Gotham never sleeps and as long as Batman was there, it kept him quite busy, for lack of a better term. But Gotham Knights is a new original story set in the universe of Batman games. In this, the Caped Crusader is dead and the responsibility to carry on his legacy falls on the shoulders of Nightwing (Dick Grayson), Robin (Tim Drake), Batgirl (Barbara Gordon) and unexpectedly, Red Hood (Jason Todd). And they will face off, not against a single villain, but a secret society called The Court of Owls, which was introduced in the New 52 Batman comics run by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo and was even featured in DC’s animated films. The Court of Owls is an organisation that has been considered a myth, even by Bruce Wayne at one point. But is it just a myth? Ostwald Cobblepot aka The Penguin thinks otherwise. Here’s the story trailer of the game.
If you want to hear the take of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, the creators of the Court of Owls in the new 52, and Jim Lee, DC also unveiled a Behind The Scenes video at how Gotham Knights adopted the story of a covert organisation hidden even from Batman.
Gotham Knights will be an open-world action-adventure role-playing game playable in the third person. The game is a joint project by DC Comics and Warner Bros. and is currently under development by Warner Bros. Montreal. The combat in the game seems inspired by the Arkham games by RockSteady Studios. You can go in as solo or with one teammate and will have Gotham’s five boroughs to explore as a Gotham Knight.
