Top-heavy tips! How to fashionably channel Sydney Sweeney

  • Sheath dresses don’t add any unnecessary bulk
  • Find a good tailor to guarantee tops aren’t boxy
  • Experiment with seamless lingerie and modern corsets
  • Wrap styles flatter the figure
  • Find a good tailor to perfect fit
  • V-neck or scoops are flattering

The Euphoria actress, 26, is styled by Molly Dickson, who also works with Hollywood’s hottest fashionistas, like Lucy Hale, Ariana Greenblatt, Camila Mendes, Lana Del Rey, and more.

But even if you don’t have a celebrity stylist at your disposal, there are ways to emulate Sweeney’s style, according to experts.

Karen Poirier founded Embrago in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and creates designs with built-in support that are meant to support larger busts, ranging from DD to L, making her an expert in dressing with a larger chest.

She told FEMAIL that simple silhouettes were best, recommending sheath dresses because the fit through the torso accentuates the waist and curves without adding any unnecessary bulk.

For taller women, Karen suggests longer hemlines and A-line silhouettes.

‘The most flattering neckline by far is a V-neck,’ she continued. ‘An open square neck or deep scoop neck can work well, too.’

If you want to mix it up, Karen said: ‘Go sleeveless or opt for an unembellished fitted jacket that cleanly hugs the lines of your bust while reserving detail and drama for the sleeves.’

The founder warned against wearing a tunic or ‘anything loose, draped, ruffled, or bulky at the bustline or shoulders.’

Sydney often opts for V-necks or scoop necks, which are the most flattering necklines for women who are bigger busted according to experts

The Euphoria star made a literal splash in a pale pink plunging gown, showing women one of the most flattering ways to dress for a big bust

While it might be tempting to attempt to camouflage your chest with loose styles, Karen advised it could have ‘the opposite effect and makes your boobs look even bigger, since the extra fabric adds bulk where you don’t need it and hides your waistline.’

Karen is a fan of how Niecy Nash, Jennifer Coolidge, and Sofia Vergara dress for their shapes.

Avec Les Filles creative directors Bradley Mounce and Sofia Wahlberg told FEMAIL: ‘For so long, people with larger busts have been told they should only wear certain silhouettes, but if you limit yourself to one shape, you’ll feel boxed in and constantly feel like you’re in a style rut.’

‘The most important thing is fit. Clothing that fits well through the shoulders, bust, arms, and waist is crucial,’ the influencer-beloved brand’s creative directors continued.

Make sure to find a good tailor, as they said, ‘The power of good alterations cannot be overstated – often, a small tweak here and there can take a piece from boxy to flattering.’

‘Start with a good foundation and build from there,’ the creative directors continued, suggesting seamless lingerie and modern corsets to ‘provide structure and support.’

When it comes to channeling Sydney, they’re all for it, calling her a ‘style chameleon’ who ‘effortlessly slays in everything she wears, whether it’s on the street or red carpet.’

‘She loves Miu Miu and has a proclivity for tailored silhouettes. She keeps everything feminine and youthful by embracing soft pastels, bright colors, and bold texture,’ they praised.

‘She also thinks about other body parts she can accentuate, like her legs, so she’s often seen wearing high-waisted skirts and pants that create a more elongated silhouette.’

They’re also impressed by Salma Hayek, Ashley Graham, Scarlett Johansson, and Paloma Elsesser who ‘are great examples of women who have thrown out the rule book and are having fun with fashion.’

Salma Hayek always wears flattering, simple silhouette that cinch at her waist and flatter her figure

It’s a bust! Avoid these styles

  • Avoid tunics or loose, draped clothing
  • Stay way from ruffles at the bustline which can add unnecessary volume
  • High necklines cut the body off
  • Boat necks and crew necks can make people look top heavy
  • Ruching leads to a less defined silhouette

The sisters behind the Los Angeles-based JLUX fashion label, Christina and Teresa Jaide, told FEMAIL that women with larger busts should ‘opt for V-necklines or wrap styles to flatter your figure and create a tasteful décolletage.’

‘The key here is to accentuate the waistline so you balance your proportions,’ the sisters advised.

‘Wearing a shape that will overexpose the bust without taking into account the rest of the body will present a top heavy proportion.’

The JLUX founders advised looking for clothing that accentuates the waistline, layering with a well-fitting blazer, and trying vertical stripes to ‘create the illusion of a longer silhouette.’

The sisters warned against large, bold patterns on the bust, as well as clothing that could lead to a boxy appearance, like crew neck T-shirts, boatneck tops, or halters.

Ruching is another no-no, as ‘this illusion will give you a less defined silhouette and always look to elongate the upper body.’

‘The key here is to accentuate the waistline so you balance your proportions. Wearing a shape that will overexpose the bust without taking into account the rest of the body will present a top heavy proportion,’ the sisters revealed. ‘Cinching is key!’

New York City-based Karolina Zmarlak, the co-founder and creative director of luxury brand KZ_K Studio, works with clients everyday to make sure they’re dressing in the most flattering styles for their figure.

She is also a fan of V-necks, cowl necks, and slit neck necklines, which ‘show off your décolletage and give a vertical line, which helps to elongate and create a leaner proportion.’

Karolina is a proponent of tops with princess darts and vertical seaming ‘to give the illusion of a smaller bust while elongating the torso and giving the chest a flattering shape.’

According to Karolina, high necklines are a no-no, because they cut the body off – as are ruffles, which add more volume on top.

Alice Kim created PerfectDD to provide an easy clothing solution for women with larger cup sizes.

The CEO, who cited Billie Eilish, Kate Upton, and Emily Ratajkowski as examples of dressing perfectly for their bustline, suggested looking for open necklines because ‘the exposed skin draws the gaze away.’

Alice also suggested fitted styles, since ‘loose styles will hang off your chest making your midsection appear bigger.’

She recommended avoiding chunky cable knit sweaters, which can add bulk, as well as staying away from horizontal stripes.

And for those who want to look like the Euphoria star, Alice said the most important aspect was having a tailor on call to guarantee the fit was just right.

‘You can make any style look like a million bucks if the fit proportioned to your body,’ she explained.
