Bank holiday weekend weather forecast: Sunshine and showers (May 4-6)
Hello. Wouldn’t it be boring if the weather for a bank holiday weekend was simple and straightforward? Plenty to keep us on our toes over the next couple of days with a bit more uncertainty than usual over the details of the forecast this Bank holiday weekend. And this is the reason why this area of low pressure, the exact timing of it moving up across the UK, is still open to doubt. And that means the details of exactly where we’re going to see the heavy showers this weekend remain elusive. But I think with the low pressure generally centred across the South, it’s in the southern areas. Where we are more likely to see the heavier downpours, particularly on Sunday and Monday, let’s try and put a little bit of detail on because actually on Saturday we’re going to start with more of the cloud and the outbreaks of rain across the northern half of the UK. Although yet again the West Coast of Scotland and the Western Isles may well stay dry and fire with some spring sunshine throughout some sunnier spells on Saturday across the Midlands, Wales and southern England. But in the far South we are expecting a scattering of showers to develop as we go through the day. Meanwhile of course spots northern England, southern Scotland, good chunk of Northern Ireland generally staying pretty cloudy here with some outbreaks of mostly light rain, one or two heavy showers potentially developing over the Highlands through the afternoon and always these eastern coast susceptible to. Mist and low cloud and that will of course impact the temperature staying pretty cool where it’s cloudy and the East Coast. But a brighter day over the Midlands, South Wales and southern England compared to Friday should mean we’ll see some temperatures up to 1718° and again some warmth on that West Coast of Scotland thanks to a good deal of blue sky here. As for Sunday, while increasing chance of seeing more showers developing across parts of the South won’t rain all day. We will again see some sunny spells, but I suspect the driest, brightest weather may be for parts of northwest England and again the far northwest of Scotland are the heavy showers are once more possible over the Highlands, and again these eastern coasts may stay a little gloomy and as a result a little bit cool elsewhere. Again with a bit of sunshine, it doesn’t feel too bad. Temperatures generally around or a touch above average in the sunshine 17 or 18 Celsius. And then for Monday. Again, it’s looking pretty showery across the South, so hit and miss downpours again. Some heavy ones possible, but equally some sunshine is gonna come through at times. This is a few days away now, so if you’ve got plans for Monday, do keep up to date with the forecast. Again, quite cloudy likely on those North Sea coasts. And again parts of the far Northwest may well do OK for dry and bright weather. Not as warm here as it has been through the week, but still temperatures getting mostly with a bit of sunshine up into the mid to high teens.
