Kenya's Alexander Munyao triumphs in London Marathon men's race

Alexander Mundell, London Marathon winner, 2024, many congratulations. Tell me what you were thinking and feeling when you crossed the finish line. Thank you very much. I’m happy and I’m happy for Winnie Today’s major marathon, which is my first major marathon. So I’m very happy and I loved it. Of course I was very happy. I did not expect a deal. 30 kilometer when other guys were scattered, they were left with Beginnings and Berkeley. So I said let me be confident at least the last minute. Then that’s why at 40 kilometres. I see Canon is left behind a bit some meters. I get a lot of confidence to win today’s race, so I’m very happy. Winnie Major, first marathon today. Wow. At what point did you think actually I’m going to win this race? At around 40 kilometers, that is where I think I can win this marathon. So I got a lot of confidence and because I was I had trained for it, I said let it be in the name of Jesus Christ. And you’ve won and run marathons before, but this is the biggest event, isn’t it? This is the biggest marathon of your career. What does it mean to follow in the footsteps of other big, big names who’ve won this race? It means a lot and I see many good things is coming in front of me. So I’m very confident that I think I will just focus in future events and I’m happy for today. We had a minute’s applause for Kelvin Kipton before the race started. Was he in your thoughts today? Actually was in my thought because I first ran with him, Valencia Maratoni departing and they won the race. I was third by then. He came here in London Marathon, he won with course record, he went again and ran to 0035, which was what the record. So unfortunately left us. Just let him rest in peace. Just finally, what will this victory, another Kenyan victory mean? How will this be greeted back home in Kenya? I think Kenyans are happy because the of the winning of today literally marathon from Kenya. I think they are happy, brilliant. And I’m sure you are as well. Many congratulations. Thank you very much. Thank you.
