Aussies travelling to Las Vegas for the historic NRL season-opening double header will get a blast from the past at Allegiant Stadium with local superstars from the late 1990s and early 2000s to perform at the event.

Members of hit boy band Human Nature will perform the national anthem for the clashes between Brisbane and the Roosters along with Souths and Manly, while early 2000s EDM stars The Stafford Brothers will perform at halftime.

Brothers Andrew and Mike Tierney from Human Nature will get the show started, with both the Australian and American national anthems to be sung, delivering a hit of nostalgia for travelling Aussies.

Formed in 1989 under the name 4 Trax while at Hurlstone Agricultural High in Sydney, the  original lineup included Toby Allen, Phil Burton, and the Tierney brothers.

They gained initial recognition for their smooth harmonies and vocal abilities, drawing inspiration from Motown and pop music.

The band initially found success in Australia but achieved international fame when they signed with Sony Music in 1995.

Their breakthrough came with the release of the album ‘Telling Everybody’ in 1996, featuring hit singles like ‘Wishes’ and ‘Don’t Say Goodbye.’

They achieved considerable success in Las Vegas with their residency at The Venetian Resort, performing classic Motown hits in their show ‘Human Nature: The Motown Show.’

The quarter became a three-piece in 2021 when Burton made the shock announcement he is stepping back from the group after more than 30 years.

Burton said he would still perform with the group when they return to Australia for shows, but will not return to Vegas after the Covid-19 pandemic made him re-assess his priorities.

‘Covid put things in stark reality – where do you want to be? Where do you feel at home? And Australia is where we felt the most safe as a family,’ he said.

The Stafford Brothers are an Australian DJ and production duo consisting of Matt and Chris Stafford.

The brothers began their career in the early 2000s, gaining recognition for their energetic DJ sets and remixes.

They achieved widespread acclaim with tracks like ‘Hello’ and ‘Where Is the Love,’ showcasing their ability to blend various EDM genres.

Having a significant impact in Australia, the Stafford Brothers made a successful transition to the international stage, particularly in the United States.

They became the first Australians to sign a residency deal in Las Vegas, solidifying their status in the global EDM scene.

Meanwhile, South Sydney stars got to meet Aussie star Kid Laroi in the United States, with the rapper and singer admitting he had always been a Bunnies supporter.

‘I grew up in Waterloo and the Rabbitohs are in my blood,’ he said.

‘I love what the team represents and am stoked that people in the US will get a chance to watch them play live in Las Vegas next weekend.’

Unfortunately for Kid Laroi fans he is unable to perform or be present for the NRL matches because of prior scheduling commitments.
