MI vs RCB: Virat Kohli shocked after waist-high no-ball to Dinesh Karthik ‘denied’
Senior RCB batter Virat Kohli was left shocked by umpire Nitin Menon during their match against MI on Thursday, 11 April. Watching the game from the dugout, Kohli was left fuming in the final over of the RCB batting innings after the umpires ‘denied’ a waist-high no-ball call to Dinesh Karthik. The incident occurred in the second ball of the final over with Aakash Madhwal bowling to the RCB finisher. Karthik connected the ball around his waist but was not able to hit it for a big shot. The batter immediately asked for a review from the umpire, which was later denied.
Like many watching on the television, Virat Kohli was left confused as to why the no-ball was not awarded in favour of the batter. Karthik however kept his calm in the crease and hit Madhwal for two sixes and a four in the next four balls of the game. Karthik’s ballistic 53* off just 23 balls helped RCB reach a competitive total of 196/8 in their 20 overs. RCB were able to reach the total despite the failure of their two main batters – Kohli and Glenn Maxwell. Both were dismissed early in the game.

Dinesh Karthik played a few magnificent shots on the day. The batter caught the eyes of the fans for playing some of the most audacious scoops played in this season of the tournament.
This is not the first time the batter has played well in the finisher’s role this season. After struggling in the first match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Karthik has tried to provide the maximum impetus whenever he has been asked to come out.
