PETALING JAYA: Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s Tiong King Sing today urged Chinese voters in Kuala Kubu Baharu to back DAP’s Pang Sock Tao on Saturday, saying they can vote her out at the next election if she does not perform well.
The Progressive Democratic Party president said the community should give the Pakatan Harapan candidate a chance to prove herself, although admitting that he did not know much about her.
He joked that Kuala Kubu Baharu voters could throw Pang into one of the rivers in the area for crocodiles to “feast” on if she did not serve her constituents well.
“If her performance is lacking, the most that will happen is that she will be your assemblyman for four years. We can then ‘kill’ her after that.
“There are a lot of rivers and crocodiles here, we can put her there, let them have a feast. What do you say?” he said at a campaign event in Kuala Kubu Baharu last night, as attendees responded with “yes”.
Pang is in a four-cornered contest for the state seat with Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainuddin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
The seat fell vacant with the death of three-term assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong after a battle with cancer.
