Avoid open plains: Thunderstorms expected in large parts of Norway

On Sunday, a lot of lightning and thunder is expected in Innlandet, Sogn og Fjordane, Møre og Romsdal, and Trøndelag. Meteorologists ask people to avoid open plains.

The danger of lightning and thunder will decrease throughout the evening on Sunday. There will be large local differences in intensity. Some places will not get thunderstorms, meteorologists report.

They recommend unplugging electrical appliances and avoiding open plains and large trees.

“Do not swim or bathe,” the recommendation reads.

Thunderstorms can lead to locally strong gusts of wind and heavy local rain showers. There is a risk of damage to objects as a result of lightning strikes.
