According to the Investment newspaper, Bamboo Airways leaders said that slot coordination in Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat is having problems in optimizing resources when on average, there are about 30 redundant slots per day at each airport. While a number of domestic and foreign airlines have the need to exploit, they are not allocated slots.
“This situation means that there is a waste of national resources, waste of human resources / resources that have been invested in airports, the loss of opportunities of airlines in need of enhancing passenger and cargo flights”, said Mr. Dang Thi Thang, General Director of Bamboo Airways.
The cause of this situation, according to Bamboo Airways, is that the slot coordination mechanism is not currently effective, leading to some firms to occupy the slot fund but not to exploit. Meanwhile, from the date of operation until now, Bamboo Airways has always been the company that maximizes and optimizes the number of allocated slots but is always in a shortage of slots to exploit.
In order to improve the publicity and transparency in the coordination and use of slots, Bamboo Airways suggested that the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and the Slot Coordination Council consider establishing, announcing and promulgating the practice using slots.
Before the reflection of Bamboo Airways, on April 22, the Ministry of Transport asked the Vietnam Aviation Administration to study and respond to the airline. At the same time, this ministry also requested the Department to urgently complete a draft report to the Prime Minister on the slot coordination work in recent years.
Which clearly states the coordination of domestic slots, foreign slots, temporary solutions for Vietnamese airlines, foreign slot exploitation and recovery when international flights recover … Ministry of Transport Transport requested the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to report before April 26.
