Australia facing a ‘massive problem’ with university campus protests
Shadow Education Minister Sarah Henderson says the situation on university campuses has become “intolerable”.
The Coalition wants to establish a Senate inquiry into anti-Semitism on university campuses as students ramp up pro-Palestine protests around the nation.
It will put forward a motion in the Senate next week.
“We must strongly support free speech and academic freedom and that’s not in question,” Ms Henderson said.
“But when speech crosses the line and it becomes incitement and hate speech and breaches university guidelines … and when the universities are not upholding their own guidelines, we have a massive problem in this country.”
