Astros vs. Red Sox final score, results from 2021 ALCS Game 6: Luis Garcia, Yordan Alvarez help propel Astros to World Series

Asia's Tech News Daily

Astros starter Luis Garcia certainly picked a good time to have the best and most important game of his young career.

After lasting just one inning in Game 2, Garcia was dominant in Game 6 of the ALCS, going 5.2 innings and giving up just one hit while striking out seven as the Astros downed Boston 5-0 to advance to the World Series.

MORE: Explaining the mysterious light in ALCS Game 5

Garcia wasn’t the only one who came up clutch. Yordan Alvarez went 4-for-4 with two doubles, a single and a triple as well as an RBI and a run scored on some heads-up baserunning to continue his torrid ALCS. Alvarez was also named ALCS MVP for his efforts, which included going 12-for-23 and and 9 for his last 12 at the dish.

Kyle Tucker continued his success with two outs, hitting his second two-out three-run home run of the series in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The Red Sox got a strong outing from Nathan Eovaldi as well. He lasted 4.1 while giving up one run on five hits and striking out four, including three straight with the bases loaded in the fourth inning. But for as good as Eovaldi was, the Red Sox offense couldn’t give him any run support as they were held to just two hits the entire game.

MORE: Scherzer scratched from Game 6 start due to fatigue

They’d shown flashes of offensive prowess early in the series, scoring nine runs in Game 2 and 12 in Game 3, but have been held in check since then.

It’s Houston’s third AL Pennant in five years and the Astros will take on the winner of the Dodgers-Braves NLCS in the World Series, which starts Tuesday, Oct. 26.
