Aston Martin’s next turbo V12 will have 824bhp and sit in the new Vanquish

“All will be vanquished,” said Aston Martin, in the world’s least-cryptic code about where its new, entirely overhauled and fresh-for-2024 V12 engine will find a home. The Aston Martin Vanquish will return, and it’ll host a completely new Aston Martin V12.

So, welcome to 2024, where all your heroes aren’t dead. Aston has today confirmed it has committed to the V12 by thoroughly overhauling and redesigning it to pack more power and torque than ever before.

And it’s a feast for engine enthusiasts. The new V12 was treated to a strengthened cylinder block and conrods, redesigned cylinder heads with reprofiled camshafts, new intake and exhaust ports, repositioned spark plugs matched to new, higher flowrate injectors.

Said injectors are said to better optimise the whole ‘continuous series of tiny explosions’ bit, while also being more efficient than before. There’s a new set of turbochargers bolted onto the twelve-cylinder’s flanks, too, with less inertia (for a quicker response time) for more bang and better throttle response.

And there’s a significant bang coming this time. The new V12 will deliver a gargantuan 824bhp – up from 759bhp when Aston’s last V12 was singing the national anthem in the DBS770 Ultimate – along with 738lb ft of torque (up from 664lb ft in the DBS770). These are big, fat numbers.

“The V12 engine has long been a symbol of power and prestige, but it is also a statement of engineering passion and technical prowess,” said Aston Martin’s chief technical officer Roberto Fedelli. “With 835PS (824bhp) and 1,000Nm (738lb ft) of torque, this unparalleled engine represents nothing less than the dawn of a dazzling new V12 era for Aston Martin.”

So, apparently “all will be vanquished” when this new V12 will make its debut in Aston’s ‘flagship model’ later in 2024. The Aston Martin Vanquish will return. Anyone else cueing up Bond?
