Rehabilitated eagle release at Métis Crossing connects culture and nature

It was a very special moment because in our culture and Woodland Creek we we believe the eagle. Is the highest flying winged one. We call them the winged ones. We believe they can go right to the creator. Take When we pray to the eagle, they take our prayers right directly to Creator to God. That’s why we honor it. The release of the eagle, it made me feel honored. It brought comfort. It brought me felt like it brought me blessings. Today, not only to be able to talk about it, to share the prayer, but more importantly to feel it physically inside on my arms. The best way I could describe it is it’s a feeling of content. Of gratitude and most of all, the fact that. To hold that eagle and feel the heartbeat. And the moment the drum beat started, it just calmed right down. It’s it’s always a powerful thing, you know, like it’s very emotional thing. And Tina was found late in the season. In November, I think last year. Vermillion Provincial Park by the Fish and Wildlife Division actually picked her up. She was fairly docile. She was underweight. She had a. Heavy parasite load which, so we looked after the parasite load and had force feeder for a little while and then she picked up, you know, and with the bird like that where it’s it’s a young bird, hasn’t had a lot of experience. A lot of times they just need to mature a little bit, you know, they need to grow up, grow into their body. She’s a strong flyer as you saw today. So it was really a relief to be able to get her out and get her on her way. In my language, I said. I’m not your geese ago. Kiam Kagiwin, today’s a good day. You’re going to go home. This is your land. Room. And it’s an honor to know you and to be part of your life today. And helping you with that release and that from here on just live a good life.
