If you are using cinnamon as a spice, you do not need to consider the risk of side effects. If consumed continuously over a long period of time, the coumarin in cinnamon may affect the liver. Patients who originally have liver disease should be careful.

Cinnamon usually causes no side effects. But consuming it in high amounts, it can irritate the mouth and lips, causing sores, may provoke liver damage, increase the risk of cancer, induce low blood sugar and breathing problems.
