Cataract is the opacification of transparent lens. Cataract can be removed by surgical procedure with implantation of intraocular lens. Indication for cataract surgery include diminution of vision, interfering with either daily life or occupational needs. It should be removed and if the cataract is complicated or there is a need for surgery involving structures behind the cataract and need visualization.

Cataract can impair your vision. If severe, can interfere with your day to day activities. They should be removed as early as possible or depending on the severity of impairment of vision. It is best to listen to your ophthalmologist regarding the timing of surgery.
