CBSE Board Exam: CBSE To Implement Biannual Board Exams From 2024-25 Session; Check Details

CBSE Board Exam:  Beginning with the 2024–25 academic session, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will hold board exams twice a year. Students who take the CBSE Class 10, and 12 exams in that session will be among the first to experience the format of the twice-a-year board exams. However, this CBSE twice-a-year board exam system will not be compulsory for students.

“The system aims to reduce stress on students who fear missing out on a single opportunity. If a candidate is prepared and is satisfied with the score in one set of exams, he can choose not to appear for the next exam,” officials said, as reported by the Times of India.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated in a TOI interview that the twice-yearly board arrangement will be implemented beginning with the 2024–2025 academic year. “This means this will be adopted from the 2025 board exams for Class X and XII. This will be effective from the present Class IX and XI students,” Pradhan said to TOI.

According to the officials, the multiple board exam system is being introduced to reduce the stress on students who fear missing a single opportunity. If a candidate is prepared and satisfied with the score in one of the exam sets, they can opt not to appear for the second exam. The new system of conducting exams twice a year for class 10 and 12 students will not be mandatory.

According to media reports, the results of the best of two exams will be used to determine the final result and merit list. The first of the 2025 board exams is expected to be held in November–December 2024, while the second exam is scheduled for February–March 2025.
