Three Australian fans in the SCG Members embarrassed themselves on day three, when they hurled abuse at England batsmen Jonny Bairstow and Ben Stokes as they returned to the dressing rooms for tea.

Stokes stopped in his tracks as he went up the players’ race and stared down the men who were feeling a bit chirpy about England’s poor performances this summer.

Bairstow went one further and returned serve at the men who had a crack at his weight.

Police asked the fans to leave the ground and they agreed to go quietly and weren’t arrested.

It was day three at the SCG last summer when Indian players made allegations they were racially abused by patrons in the crowd.

Friday’s incident thankfully wasn’t as unsavoury, and Stokes’ handled himself better than he did once in South Africa when he threatened an abusive fan who compared the red head to British pop star Ed Sheeran.

WAX PIGEON

Global Tech News Daily

There was sadly no Glenn McGrath at the Pink Test this year – unless you count a wax statue of the great man out the front of the SCG.

But it made no difference to Sydney’s overwhelming support for breast cancer, with the McGrath Foundation reporting its biggest year of funding ever for the foundation.

By last night the Foundation was charging towards more than 200,000 virtual seats sold, raising in excess of $3.9 million to provide McGrath Foundation Breast Care nurses in the community.

SCO MO STRIKES

Scott Morrison was only introduced into the Fox Cricket commentary box on Friday, before Adam Gilchrist had to immediately tell the Prime Minister to hold the phone.

Scott Boland struck with yet another wicket before Morrison could open his mouth.

However, the Prime Minister also proved a curse. By the end of his commentary stint he made the comment that Australia was “taking wickets with the virus”, and from there Jonny Bairstow and Stokes piled on a 100-run partnership to bat to lunch and then through the entire middle session.

Morrison’s comments about Australia powering through the virus raised eyebrows on social media when testing queues around the country are in chaos.
