Why this startup is ‘returning cheques’ to its ‘Shark Tank India’ investors

P-TAL, a startup manufacturing brass, copper and kansa products, holds the rare distinction of being a company that bagged a deal from all five investors on the “Shark Tank India” panel. Now, it is ‘returning’ cheques to the Sharks.

When it appeared on “Shark Tank India” season 3, P-TAL bagged a deal of Rs 20 lakh each from Sharks Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Amit Jain, Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh at 0.64% equity.

In an Instagram post shared one day ago, P-TAL announced that, as a mark of gratitude, its artisans are ‘returning’ cheques to each of the five Sharks who invested in them. Instead of money, however, the cheques made out to Aman Gupta, Anupam Mittal, Amit Jain, Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh can be enchased for love and blessings.

In its now-viral post, P-TAL explained that when its artisans heard of the company’s successful appearance on “Shark Tank India,” they were overjoyed and filled with gratitude. A video accompanying the post shows the artisans thanking the Sharks for their trust. However, the artisans went one step beyond simple words – they ‘returned’ cheques of love and blessings to the five investors.

“We are sending the cheques back to all the 5 sharks from Shark Tank India who invested in us,” P-TAL wrote on Instagram. “When we went to our artisans and shared this with them, they got overjoyed and had tears of happiness in their eyes. To express their gratitude, we are sending a cheque on their behalf to each of the 5 sharks, paying them: Love, Respect and Blessings.”

Along with the cheques, each of the five Sharks will also receive a P-TAL product specially handcrafted by the artisans for them.

Haryana-based P-TAL is led by CEO Aditya Agarwal, a graduate in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce – Delhi University. The startup specialises in metal kitchenware with an aim to revive old Indian traditions in a contemporary manner.
