Aseguran que EE.UU. prepara paquete de armas por mil millones de dólares para Ucrania

Estados Unidos está preparando un paquete de ayuda militar de mil millones de dólares para Ucrania, el primero que proviene del proyecto de ley Ucrania-Israel aún por firmar, dijeron a Reuters el martes dos funcionarios estadounidenses.

El paquete de ayuda incluye vehículos, municiones de defensa aérea Stinger, municiones adicionales para sistemas de cohetes de artillería de alta movilidad, municiones de artillería de 155 milímetros, municiones antitanques TOW y Javelin y otras armas que pueden usarse inmediatamente en el campo de batalla, dijeron los funcionarios, hablando bajo condición de anonimato.

El presidente Joe Biden había pedido al Congreso de Estados Unidos que proporcionara 60.800 millones de dólares en ayuda a Ucrania, pero la iniciativa se estancó cuando los republicanos de la Cámara de Representantes se negaron a hacer avanzar la medida durante meses.

Una vez que se firme el proyecto de ley Ucrania-Israel, los fondos para reponer las existencias se recuperarían, aliviando la preocupación del Pentágono de que el uso de la Autoridad de Reducción Presidencial (PDA) para ayudar a Ucrania comprometería la preparación militar de Estados Unidos.

La Autoridad de Reducción Presidencial permite al presidente autorizar la transferencia de exceso de armas de las existencias estadounidenses sin la aprobación del Congreso en respuesta a una emergencia.

A a la vez que se desplieguen los fondos de reposición, las empresas de defensa estadounidenses obtendrían más contratos a medida que avance la guerra entre Rusia y Ucrania.

Los expertos esperan un aumento en la cartera de pedidos de RTX junto con otras empresas importantes que reciben contratos gubernamentales, como Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics y Northrop Grumman, tras la aprobación del proyecto de ley de gasto suplementario.
