Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has talked about Virat Kohli’s absence from India’s squad in the ongoing five-match Test series against England and said that Test matches seem incomplete without him. The former Indian skipper was included in the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England but pulled out due to personal reasons on January 22. It was initially expected that he would return for the last three matches, but in the squad for the Tests in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala on Saturday (February 10), Kohli’s name was missing once again.

The BCCI stated in its release that Kohli was unavailable for selection. Reacting to Kohli’s absence from the ongoing home series, Harbhajan, while speaking in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel, said that he prays that everything is alright with Virat’s family.

“Virat Kohli is still unavailable for selection. Reasons no one knows, I hope Virat, his family, and everyone is ok. I hope he returns soon because the Test match seems incomplete without him. He is a brand in Test cricket, which has taken Test cricket forward. Virat Kohli will not be seen in the next three matches, but we hope everything goes well and he returns soon.”

It is the first time in his career that Kohli will miss an entire Test series. The 35-year-old right-handed batter, who made his Test debut for India on June 20, 2011, in Kingston against the West Indies, has played in a total of 113 Tests so far in his career and, with the help of 29 centuries and 30 fifties, has scored 8848 runs. His batting average in Test cricket is 49.15.

Kohli is the most successful Indian captain in Test history. During his leadership days, he led India in 68 Tests and won 40 of them.

The third Test of the ongoing series between India and England is scheduled to take place at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The match will start on Thursday, February 15.
