A south Florida woman has vanished in Spain after a man in a helmet was seen blacking out the security cameras where she was staying with spray paint, according to her brother.

Ana Knezevich, 40, had been going through a ‘tough’ divorce when she went missing in Madrid on February 5, when she failed to meet a friend in Barcelona as planned, her brother Felipe Henao told NewsNation’s CUOMO.

Her family became concerned after they started receiving text messages in Spanish from Ana’s phone that did not sound like they were written by the Colombia native.

‘That message in Spanish, it is like it’s translated from Google. It’s not her. She doesn’t say those things. Like nobody in Spanish will say it like that,’ Henao said.

The messages sent from Ana’s phone claimed she met someone who has a house two hours from Madrid and she was going there with him for a few days.

The texts added that there was no phone service where she was going and that she’d let her family know when she was back.

Ana had reportedly starting traveling to Spain often during her divorce, and flew to Spain from Fort Lauderdale in December.

When her family sent someone to check the place where she had been staying, they found that a man in a helmet had spray painted over the surveillance cameras the night before she went missing.

Ana’s husband David is believed to be in Serbia, where he is originally from, according to her family.

NewsNation’s Brian Entin reported that neighbors of Ana and her husband in Fort Lauderdale said David spent a lot of time paying attention to the security cameras in their home.

Henao said he is also concerned that authorities in Madrid are not equipped to deal with Ana’s case.

‘I’ve heard from the police in Spain. I know they’re working really hard. I just don’t know if they have all the tools they need,’ the concerned brother told Chis Cuomo.

‘I found out they haven’t even have a detective that speaks in English and that that makes it really tough. And I find that ridiculous.

‘I wish there was more collaboration between the US and the Spanish law enforcement. This is an American citizen that is missing abroad. And I just want my sister back.’
