UP Lok Sabha Election 2024: Liquor Shops To Remain Closed From April 24-26 In Aligarh | Details

Aligarh Elections 2024: Liquor shops in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh to remain closed for three days due to the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections which is scheduled to take place on April 26 in the state. The order has been issued by the District Excise Officer Dr Satish Chandra. According to the announcement, to carry out peaceful voting on polling day, all types of liquor shops will remain closed from 6 PM on April 24 to 6 PM on April 26. Buying and selling of liquor on these days shall be completely prohibited.

Moreover, Dhanipur Mandi will remain closed for five days from today, April 23, due to general elections. District Election Officer Visakh has directed that to conduct elections in a free and fair manner, the entire site of Agricultural Produce Market Committee Dhanipur has been reserved for the departure of polling parties, strong room, and counting of votes.

Giving information about the same, City Magistrate Ram Shankar said that in order to complete all the election-related works, the mandi (market) located at the new marketplace Dhanipur shall remain completely closed from April 23 to 27.

The second phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in UP will witness several affluent candidates running for parliamentary seats. This sparked questions about the relationship between money and politics. Of the eight constituencies that are scheduled to be contested in this phase of elections—Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Mathura—an astounding 42 crorepati candidates have entered the race.

An accurate picture of the electoral landscape is provided by data compiled by the Uttar Pradesh Election Watch and Association for Democratic ReformsSignificantly, 46 per cent of the 91 candidates in the running are identified as crorepatis.
