Wedding Bells

Congratulations to Nora Thérèse O’Mahony, daughter of Marie and Donie, and Peadar McInerney who were married recently in Holy Cross Church, Glanworth with reception in the Woodlands Hotel, Adare. We wish the happy couple a long life of health and happiness.

Congratulations Dillon

Massive Congratulations to Dillon Corkery of Banteer, son of Margaret and Nicholas, and grandson of Mary and John Joe, Kilbrin who won the 2023 5 stage Rás Tailteann.

In-form Dillon who was fresh from a 2nd overall placing in the 5 stage race of Tour de la Manche the previous week captained Team Ireland in the Rás and cycled superbly throughout the week finishing 4th, 2nd and had two wins in The Rás and to the tremendous joy of his very proud parents and grandparents he romped home on Sunday to claim a well deserved 1st place overall.

Dillon’s ambition was always to be a cyclist and followed his dream where he was well supported by his family. Corkery, who rides for CC Etupes in France is in the best form of his career and we wish him the best of luck in the future. We in Kilbrin are very proud of you Dillon.

Village Renewal Group

Tuesday June 6th will be the next village clean & tidy up meeting at 7pm in the village. Bring your gloves & any small gardening tools that might be of use.

Foroige

We are delighted to had such a beautiful weekend for our last Foroige outing & meet up for the year. The members and volunteers went to Ballyhass lakes Aqua park and had a great afternoon on the water followed by pizza.

A huge thank you to all the members for attending all year and the volunteers who supported on Friday night and outings. To Emma Brown the regional leader, her support was amazing throughout the year.

Basketball

Congratulations to the Kanturk U14 girls basketball team that won out the Cork Ladies Basketball Board Top 4 teams tournament last Saturday. Well done to Anina-May Cremin who was part of the team. Fantastic end to a very successful year of brilliant basketball.

Kilbrin National School

Wishing the 1st and 2nd class the very best on receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion this Saturday coming. Have a wonderful day everybody.

Don’t forget there are refreshments being served in the school after the ceremony and all are most welcome.

Wishing all the boys and girls that are taking part in the Cork City Sports next Thursday the very best of luck… Bring home the medals.

Fathers Day

Croke Rovers

U14 played Ballyhea on the 19th May and Croke Rovers won by a landslide… well done to all.

U16 played last Sunday against St. Kevin’s in Ballyclough and narrowly beat them.4-07 to 3.12 Congratulations everyone.

Exam study

We would like to invite all members of our community to an open meeting in the Social Club next Tuesday evening 30th May at 9pm. Golf Classic

Kilbrin GAA Club held a very successful Golf Classic on The Kanturk Course on Saturday last amidst what for most of the day was glorious sunshine. All participants enjoyed a very enjoyable day and were served by a beautiful meal by Bobs on The Green.

Winners were as follows: 1st Prize–Golf Bags–Thoughts That Count Team–Michael Dennehy, Michael Higgins and Anne O’Sullivan. 2nd Prize–Coffee Makers–winners Bobs on The Green Team–Timmie, Brian and John O’Callaghan. Gross–Kettle and Toaster–winners Alley Bar Team–Denis O’Mahony, Pat O’Connor and Brendan O’Neill. 3rd Prize, Gear Bags winners–John McSweeney, Niall Foley and Adrian Madden. 4th Prize Whiskey–winners John Fintan Daly Team–Tom O’Riordan, Jerry Casey and John Fintan Daly. 5th Prize, Green Fees–winners Fitzpatrick Tarmac:Team–John Cremin, Matthew Hootan and Shane McSweeney. 6th Prize, Golf Balls winners Vincent Hayes Team–Vincent Hayes, James Madigan and Tracey Cremin. 7th Prize, Wine–winners Kanturk Credit Union Team–Michael Walsh, Ben Finn and Kieran O’Flynn. 8th Prize–Umbrellas- winners Brian Mackessy, Noel O’Callaghan and William Heffernan. Nearest the Pin winner of wine was James Madigan.

Raffle winners were 1st Prize of a beautiful hamper Ben Finn; 2nd Prize of New Leaf Voucher, Brendan O’Neill; 3rd Prize of Duhallow Foid Services Voucher Niall Foley.

Lotto

The lotto draw for a jackpot of €15,500 took place on Wedneday night last in the Social Club. Numbers drawn were 5, 1u, 28 and 29. There was no jackpot winner and lucky dip winners were Fiona Hannon Doneraile, Tim Cronin Kilbrin, Tadgh Brown Ballyrushion, Barry John O Leary, Kilbrin and Helen Byrne Kilbrin. Next draw is 31st May. Reserve jackpot is €2,000.

FREEMOUNT

Weekly 45 Drive

Social Dancing

The weekly social dancing continues every Sunday afternoon in Freemount Community Centre from 3pm to 5.30pm. All top bands are booked for the year ahead so head for Freemount this Sunday May 28th, when Peter Burke will supply the music for the afternoon. Coming on Sunday June 4th is Declan Aungier.

Dancing Fundraiser

There will be an extra helping of Social Dancing in Freemount this May. A Social Dancing Fundraiser in aid of the Irish Red Cross will be held in Freemount Community Centre (P56 P893) on Friday 26th May at 8pm. The ever popular Declan Aungier will provide the music. Doors open at 8pm. Dancing at 9pm. A great night is guaranteed, so join us for fantastic music & dancing for a very worthy cause.

Freemount Playground Refurbishment

Please be informed that the playground in Freemount will soon have some new additions to the play units. These units have been chosen keeping wheelchair accessibility and differently-abled people in mind to ensure that every child can have fun while playing here.

The 3 new units will be to the front of the existing playground and there will also be more play-panels and communication boards.

We ask for your patience while the works are ongoing. The playground will have to be closed for a short while when works are being completed.

We will keep you informed when we know the dates.

This playground upgrade has been financed by Clar funding from Cork County Council as well as our own funds too.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support which makes projects like this possible.

Thursday Club

The Thursday Club will meet on this Thursday May 25th. at 2pm. Everybody welcome, bring a friend.

St Michael’s Church, Freemount

Sunday Mass in Freemount at 10:30 am.Mass on Monday night at 8pm. And Tuesday morning at 9.30am.

You can now tune into all Masses in St.Michael’s Church by tuning into Freemount Church on your phone, computer or tablet,as new equipment has been installed. his is great news for all those unable to attend Mass in Church.
