Armin Laschet zu Interview mit Kinderreportern: »So sprechen Kinder nicht«

Folgenreicher TV-Auftritt: Weil zwei Kinderreporter mit möglicherweise vorgesagten Fragen Unions-Kanzlerkandidat Armin Laschet in die Enge trieben, wächst nun der Ärger in der Union. Wie reagiert der Sender?

Die Fernsehsendung »Late Night Berlin« mit Klaas Heufer-Umlauf auf ProSieben ist trotz ihrer Rubrik »Kinder fragen …« keine Kindersendung. Sondern ein Unterhaltungsformat für Erwachsene mit nur vermeintlich harmlosen Kinderfragen. Das muss Armin Laschet gewusst haben, als er sich auf ein Interview mit den elfjährigen Kinderreportern Pauline und Romeo einließ.

Das am Dienstagabend ausgestrahlte Gespräch hat erst den Kanzlerkandidaten und nun auch den Sender unter Erklärungsdruck gesetzt. Pauline und Romeo brachten Laschet etwa mit Fragen und Nachfragen zur Räumung des Hambacher Forstes oder CDU-Rechtsaußen Hans-Georg Maaßen so in Bedrängnis, dass der Kandidat unsouverän reagierte.

Auf die Frage, ob Maaßen ein Rechter sei, antwortete Laschet etwa mit der Gegenfrage, ob Romeo Maaßen kenne. Maaßen sei auf jeden Fall kein Nazi. Wer das sage, sei unfair, so Laschet. Auf die Frage, was Maaßen Falsches gesagt habe, wollte Laschet keine konkrete Antwort geben. Als Pauline wissen wollte, was an Maaßen gut sei, antwortete Laschet: »Warum soll an ihm was gut sein? Wir wollen doch miteinander plaudern, wir machen doch keine Werbeveranstaltung für Herrn Maaßen, den du gar nicht kennst.«

Nun steht der Vorwurf im Raum, die Kinder seien bei dem etwa zehnminütigen Gespräch von der Redaktion per Knopf im Ohr inhaltlich ferngesteuert gewesen. Demnach wären die vermeintlichen Kinderfragen in Wirklichkeit von Kindern vorgetragene Fragen Erwachsener gewesen.

Laschet nennt Sendung »spezielles Format«

Bei einer Veranstaltung des Unternehmerverbandes AGA in Hamburg äußerte sich Laschet am Donnerstagmorgen erstmals selbst zu dem Interview. Im Gespräch mit dem Chefredakteur des Hamburger Abendblatts, Lars Haider, sagte der CDU-Chef zunächst, er wolle den Vorgang nicht bewerten. Dann deutete Laschet jedoch an, Erwachsene hätten den Kindern die kritischen Fragen eingeflüstert: »Ich rede gerne mit Kindern«, sagte er. Hier hätten die Kinder jedoch »einen Knopf im Ohr« getragen. »So sprechen Kinder nicht«, sagte Laschet. Die Sendung bezeichnete er als ein »spezielles Format«.

In der CDU-Zentrale wollte man sich auf Anfrage nicht zu der Sendung äußern. Vertraute des Unionskanzlerkandidaten hatten sich bereits kritisch zu dem Format zu Wort gemeldet. Schleswig-Holsteins CDU-Bildungsministerin Karin Prien, Mitglied in Laschets »Zukunftsteam«, schrieb auf Twitter, das Interview »wirft Fragen auf«. Sie »diskutiere nahezu jede Woche mit Schulkindern. Solche Fragen stellen weder Kinder noch junge Jugendliche.« Prien: »Wurden Kinder instrumentalisiert?«.

ProSieben-Sprecher Christoph Körfer sagte auf SPIEGEL-Anfrage, »selbstverständlich« seien die beiden Kinder »während und nach ihren Interviews« redaktionell betreut worden. Es sei »gängige Praxis«, dass Journalistinnen und Journalisten im Fernsehen einen Knopf im Ohr tragen, »um diese redaktionelle Betreuung auch während der Sendung zu erhalten«. Diese Technik werde von nahezu allen Erwachsenen genutzt, »warum sollte man also ausgerechnet zwei elfjährigen Kindern dieses gängige Hilfsmittel verwehren?«

In dem TV-Format des langjährigen SPD-Sympathisanten Heufer-Umlauf, der laut ProSieben allerdings weder Mitglied der SPD war noch ist, interviewten die Kinderreporter Pauline und Romeo auch Olaf Scholz und Annalena Baerbock. Die Sendung mit Scholz wurde ebenfalls bereits ausgestrahlt, Baerbock folgt am kommenden Dienstag. Die Grünen wollten sich auf Anfrage weder zu Laschets Reaktion noch zum Konzept des Formats äußern.
