This Electric Touring Bike Can Leave The Harley-Davidson Road Glide In Its Wake

  • Felo Tooz claims its electric motorcycle can manage 450 miles per charge.
  • The bike has a top speed of 125 MPH, quick charging capabilities, and comfort amenities, setting it apart.
  • Once it’s entered production, the Felo Tooz may signify the future of EV motorcycles.

The near future might be pointing towards electrification, but there are still some huge challenges in the motorcycle world. Luckily, new bikemakers are constantly trying to break the mold and one of them is Thailand-based Smartech. This company’s recent acquisition, Felo, seems to have the solution for range anxiety with its latest reveal, the Tooz.

Showcased at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show, the EV claims to be the longest-range electric motorcycle ever produced. The claimed range is so big, it can leave the Harley-Davidson Road Glide in its wake on the highway!

A Ridiculously Long Mileage Of Over 400 Miles

Claimed Range: 450 Miles Per Charge

Close

The Felo Tooz is marketed as a premium electric touring bike. Smartech claims this bike will have a range of 450 miles (720 km) per charge, thanks to its 35 kWh 700V 50 AH battery. The company hasn’t revealed whether this is a city or combined range, but whichever it is, it is still longer than electric bikes currently on sale. And even big gas-guzzling tourers from Harley-Davidson, Honda, or Indian Motorcycles.

For reference, the longest-range EV bike currently on sale is the Evoke 6061-GT. This bike has a range of 410 miles in the city and 308 miles combined (city and highway). As for ICE perspective, the 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide has a range of 185 miles in the real world (or ~260 miles as claimed by H-D). The Honda GL1800 Gold Wing has a range of 220 miles, according to Motorcycle News. So if the Felo Tooz can keep up its insane claim once it’s on sale, it will change how we think of long-distance traveling on EV bikes.

Proper Long-Distance Mile Muncher Credentials

Top Speed: 125 MPH

That’s not all, though. Smartech claims this bike can reach a top speed of 125 MPH (200 KMPH). And not only can this bike’s range suffice for a day of riding, but charging it would be quick, too. The bike supports TYPE-2 charging, which can take the battery from 20 percent to 80 percent within 20 minutes.

The Felo Tooz is also massive; it’s got bagger dimensions. So, if the production version is similar to this concept, the bike would be a comfortable, spacious tourer. It’s even packed with amenities, including a 12-inch TFT display with a navigation system, a 6-channel surround speaker system, and an eight-liter cooling box (did someone say beer?).

The manufacturer also claims that this bike has been designed with safety in mind. As such, it gets safety features like ABS, traction control, and 360-degree view cameras. Do note that these features were not shown on the concept motorcycle shown at the motor show, so there is a lot of room for interpretation.

A Concept Bike That Could Be Production-Ready

As much as Smartech would like you to believe this bike is almost ready, the bike showcased at the motor show is still a concept. The manufacturer has only revealed what would grab the headlines (it’s working), nothing more. We still don’t know what kind of motor would be used, let alone other specifications.

Still, the PR article does hint that the bike is close to production. Smartech says the bike is, “ready to serve and will begin expanding throughout the country by the end of 2024.” Again, the PR article was translated, and you’d be wiser to take Google Translate’s output with a pinch of salt.

That’s not to say this won’t become a reality. Thailand is one of the world’s largest motorcycle producers, almost on par with India. Plus, its domestic two-wheeler market is the fifth largest in the world. Expertise is abundant here, and Smartech already has a portfolio of successful EV motorcycles. Fingers crossed, this bike may change the face of EV motorcycles and give some respite to our range anxieties.
