Teacher claims trial to outraging modesty of pupil in Melaka school
ALOR GAJAH: A 42-year-old male teacher pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here to an offence of outraging the modesty of his pupil in a classroom.
The plea of the accused was recorded before Judge Nariman Badruddin on Friday (Jan 19).
Based on the charge sheet, the accused had allegedly outraged the modesty of an 11-year-old female pupil during lessons.
He allegedly committed the offence at a Year Five class in a school at Durian Tunggal at 10am on May 26, 2022.
The charge was framed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping, upon conviction.
The accused who has since been transferred out from the school following the incident was represented by counsel S. Karthigesan.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Anis Najwa Nazari prosecuted while the court granted bail of RM8,000 with one surety to the accused.
The next mention date has been fixed on Feb 28.
