Area 57 sokong perkembangan industri dron negara

KUALA LUMPUR: Penubuhan pusat kecemerlangan ‘Area 57’ berupaya menyokong perkembangan industri dron selain mampu meningkatkan tenaga kerja mahir dalam sektor teknologi dan teknikal.

Lembaga Teknologis Malaysia (MBOT) berkata, usaha dan fokus Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi (MOSTI) serta agensi berkaitan membangunkan industri dron adalah satu langkah strategik bagi menjadikan Malaysia sebagai hub dron.

“Sebagai badan profesional yang mengiktiraf profesion Ahli Teknologi dan Juruteknik, MBOT menyambut baik penubuhan ‘Area 57’ dalam usaha menyokong perkembangan industri dron.

“Ini kerana perkembangan industri dron mampu memberikan kesan berganda kepada industri lain,” katanya dalam kenyataan, hari ini.

Semalam, Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba menyempurnakan prapelancaran penyelidikan dan pembangunan Area 57 di Taman Teknologi Malaysia (TPM).

Dr Adham dilaporkan berkata, penubuhan pusat kecemerlangan ‘Area 57’ di TPM berkeluasan dua hektar amat bersesuaian untuk menjadi pemangkin teknologi dan penggunaan dron di Malaysia.

MBOT berkata, perkembangan pesat dron menjangkaui pelbagai industri yang didukung gabungan beberapa aspek teknologi seperti Analisis Data Raya (BDA), Kecerdasan Buatan (AI), teknologi elektronik, teknologi kejuruteraan mekanikal, bateri, perisian komputer, kamera infra-merah dan modul GPS.

Katanya, berdasarkan laporan dikeluarkan Drone Industry Insights pada tahun 2020, saiz pasaran dron akan meningkat setiap tahun menjelang tahun 2025 dan Asia akan mempunyai saiz pasaran dron paling tinggi di dunia.

“Di peringkat dunia, pada tahun 2019, Malaysia berada di tempat ketiga selepas Amerika Syarikat dan Jepun dalam kalangan penyedia perkhidmatan dron.

“Kedudukan di peringkat global ini membuktikan Malaysia bukan sekadar mempunyai penyedia perkhidmatan dron yang hebat, bahkan juga mempunyai teknologi dron bertaraf dunia,” katanya.

Justeru katanya, MBOT menggalakkan semua pihak termasuk pemain industri, institusi pengajian tinggi (IPT) dan agensi kerajaan meningkatkan kemahiran serta mendapatkan latihan semula supaya bakat yang ada akan sentiasa relevan serta kompetitif dengan keperluan industri.
