Apple Let Loose event: Two iPads, new Pencil, Keyboard and what Apple may launch
Apple is set to host its first big event of 2024 later today. The online event will start at 7.30 PM (IST) and it is expected that it will be tablet-centric. Here’s what we can expect:
iPad Pro, iPad Air
Apple didn’t launch a single iPad in 2023 but that’s about to change as at the Let Loose event. Rumour mills are rife about two new iPad models — iPad Pro and iPad Air — arriving.
The iPad Pro is expected to come in two display variants: 11-inch and 13-inch. The 13-inch model will be the biggest iPad Apple has ever made. Apple will also incorporate OLED display for the first time in an iPad. Rumours also suggest that there will be a price hike on the iPad Pro.
The iPad Air is also expected to get an overhaul in terms of design. Currently, the iPad Air features a 10.9-inch display but the new iPad Air is expected to come with a 12.9-inch display. Apple is expected to retain the Retina display for the iPad Air as OLED models could be reserved for the expensive iPad Pro only.
M4 processor could make its debut
A report by Bloomberg suggests that Apple could debut the M4 processor to integrate AI features in the new iPads. If the M4 processor does debut then it could be the first time Apple has introduced a new processor with the iPad and not MacBook. The M4 processor is expected to be an upgrade on the existing M3 processor in terms of performance and battery life.
Apple Pencil, Magic Keyboard
Apple has already dropped several hints that a new Pencil is coming. Apple CEO Tim Cook posted on X “pencil us in” when announcing the event. Apple’s website also has an eraser graphic suggesting a Pencil is in the offing.
In terms of accessories, Pencil isn’t the only device getting an upgrade. Apple is expected to launch an all-new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro and iPad Air. Not much is known about the new Magic Keyboard.
