Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has been ruled out for “two to three weeks” with a muscle injury.

The £72million summer signing has been in fine form of late, with his two goals against Luton last weekend seeing him become the youngest player ever to score in six consecutive Premier League games.

It is a big blow to Erik ten Hag’s side, who were finally showing consistent form with five wins on the bounce across all competitions to kickstart their season after a miserable second half of 2023.

Hojlund will miss the visit of Fulham in the Premier League on Saturday, along with the trip to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup fifth round next Wednesday.

Most notably, the 21-year-old will also be absent for the derby visit to the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City on Sunday, March 3. Following home games against Everton and Sheffield United before the March international break are also in doubt.

A statement from the club reads: “Rasmus Hojlund will miss Manchester United’s Premier League game against Fulham on Saturday due to a muscle injury.

“It is expected to keep him out for two to three weeks.”

Ten Hag added to reporters: “It’s a small injury, two or three weeks. It’s the risk, playing high intensity. It’s not a big injury but he has to wait for two or three weeks.”
