Kepong restaurant damaged in early morning explosion
KUALA LUMPUR: An explosion that occurred at a restaurant led to a blaze in the early hours on Wednesday (Feb 14).
The city Fire and Rescue Department said that firefighters were informed of the fire at 2.48am.
A team was then rushed to the scene in Kepong Baru.
The two-story restaurant was damaged with about a third of its kitchen burnt.
“The fire was fully extinguished at 3.22am. No victims were involved and the cause of the fire is still being investigated,” it said.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng shared a video of the explosion on his X page.
The footage was taken from the MP’s office CCTV nearby.
It showed a large explosion occurring on the second floor of the building, which then led to bystanders running away.
