Anthony Edwards’ Classy Message to Nuggets, Nikola Jokic After Historic Playoff Performance
Anthony Edwards has firmly cemented himself among the NBA’s best.
In Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Saturday, Edwards scored a game-high 43 points – his second straight 40-point playoff performance – in a 106-99 win over the Denver Nuggets.
After the game, Edwards had nothing but respect for the defending NBA champions – and two-time MVP Nikola Jokic – when asked to comment on the matchup with Denver.
“Going against the best player in the world is always fun, going against the best team in the world is always fun,” Edwards said after Game 1.
“Like I said, man, they’re well coached. They’re disciplined [and] they’re not going to beat themselves.”
Saturday’s loss marked Denver’s first at home in the postseason since Game 2 of last year’s NBA Finals. Two-time MVP Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 32 points tonight, however, it wasn’t enough to lead Denver past the red-hot Timberwolves.
Minnesota has now won five straight playoff games and will look to make it a sixth on Monday night in Game 2.
Tipoff is set for 10:00 p.m. ET.
