The army of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has pointed its fingers at Rwanda for a recent attack it suffered. DRC’s army said on Saturday that Rwanda was responsible for the drone attack that took out some of its aircraft at the airport in Goma.

・Intensified conflict between M23 rebels and the DRC Army fuels accusations against Rwanda.
・An Investigation was launched to determine the source of the bombs.
A report by The Citizen revealed that fighting has intensified between M23 rebels and DRC’s army, in recent days in the town of Sake, 20km from the site of the recent attack in Goma. DRC’s army has accused Rwanda of backing the rebel group.
Lieutenant-Colonel Guillaume Ndjike, the army spokesperson for Restive North Kivu province, stated that the drone attacks very early in the morning targeted “aircraft of the DRC Armed Forces.”
“FARDC aircraft were not hit, civilian aircraft were damaged,” the army spokesman added. So far there has been no confirmation of where the bombs came from, according to security and government sources.
A security source noted that the experts are already investing in the “two bombs” at the Goma site,
“Two experts are on the site to check where the bombs were fired from” the source stated.
However, travel activities have gone as usual, and national and international traffic has gone as usual, sources at the airport revealed.
As seen in the Citizen’s report, a few commercial, military, and humanitarian flights took off or landed in close proximity to the time of the bomb attacks.
