MANILA, Philippines: Former vice president Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo’s Angat Buhay nongovernment organization (NGO) received an “unqualified opinion” from its auditors.

Robredo herself made the announcement on her Facebook page, citing the opinion given by the group’s auditor, SyCip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV), on its 2023 financial statements.

“In the midst of the busy-ness of this day, we received the great news that we were granted by our external auditor, SGV, an unqualified opinion for 2023,” Robredo wrote on Facebook on Thursday night.

By definition of the Commission on Audit (CoA), an unqualified opinion, also known as an “unmodified opinion,” is when the auditor “concludes that the financial statements are prepared, in all material respects, in accordance with the applicable financial reporting framework.”

“In our opinion, the accompanying financial statements present fairly, in all material respects, the financial position of the Foundation, as of Dec. 31, 2023 and 2022, and its financial performance and its cash flows for the year ended Dec. 31, 2023 and for the period June 24, 2022 to Dec. 31, 2022 in accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards for Small Entities,” according to the SGV.
