Mets Set Timeline For Injured Star Ace Kodai Senga

The New York Mets have released the first stages of their timeline for injured ace starting pitcher Kodai Senga.

As Mets manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Sunday morning, Senga received a PRP injection in his shoulder and will be shut down from throwing for three weeks.

Mendoza sounded optimistic about Senga’s shot, but he touched on the fact that the treatment still needs to heal their hurler first before he gets checked out and cleared to throw in three weeks.

But it is a good sign that Senga and the Mets now have a better idea of when he might be able to return to the mound, as opposed to earlier in the week when president of baseball operations David Stearns was unsure following the initial diagnosis.

The bottom line is that Senga’s symptoms will still need to subside before he can begin throwing. The Mets are hopeful that will happen with rest and treatment.

Once he is cleared, the righty will then have to build up his arm and ramp up to get ready to pitch in live games. That is why the Mets are already anticipating Senga to start the regular season on the injured list. For how long? That is unknown and will be based off how well or poorly his rehab goes.

The good news is Stearns believes Senga will be able to make a significant amount of starts for the Mets this season. This could mean that the Mets think Senga won’t miss more than a month of two maximum, but time shall tell in the coming weeks.
