Andhra Family Found Dead at Varanasi Guest House, Police Suspect Suicide Pact
In a shocking incident, four members of a family, all residents of Andhra Pradesh were found dead at a guest house in Varanasi’s Devnathpura on Thursday, December 7. According to the police, preliminary investigation suggests that it’s a case of suicide.
The police found that financial problem was one of the major reasons behind the family members’ extreme step. The four family members, the man, his wife, and their two sons were found hanging in the room where they were staying, informed police.
“Prima facie it appears that they hanged themselves…It seems to be a suicide pact and these people have been staying here since 3rd December and it appears that they did it because of some personal issues,” Police Commissioner of Varanasi Mutha Ashok Jain was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
As per the police, the family arrived in Varanasi on Sunday and were supposed to check out from the guest house on Wednesday.
The incident came to light when a member of a house-keeping staff found that the guests were not opening the door. Following this, the staff peeped into the room from the window and saw four bodies hanging.
The staff immediately informed the police about the incident. After receiving the information, police officials reached the spot, broke the door, and took the bodies into their custody.
Suicide Note Recovered
A suicide note was also recovered from the site. Speaking with ANI, the Varanasi Police Commissioner said, “Through the suicide note, we can figure out that there were some financial issues.”
The deceased individuals reportedly belonged to East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and a probe has been launched to ascertain the exact cause of the incident.
