Troubled relationships are increasingly common in today’s age.
For millions of people, difficulties in their love lives and marriages could be due to a number of reasons. Renowned spiritual leader Sadhguru gives insight on why relationships become a form of suffering for couples. Sadhguru was asked in a session about why relationships are turning miserable for couples these days. Troubled and toxic relationships are increasingly common in today’s age. He stated that people experience miserable marriages because they are unable to joke about themselves and laugh at each other. According to him, a marriage is an arrangement between two people, who have decided to build their lives with each other. It is a very simple arrangement but people have made it something hard to be in. He adds that nothing is wrong with the institution of marriage itself.
He says things are becoming a problem for people because they are unable to view anything with a sense of humour, meaning they have lost the ability to simply laugh wholeheartedly. Things one might joke about with their friends, turn into a serious issue in their household, revealed Sadhguru.
Sadhguru says that to understand and implement love, one must first understand its nature and subtlety. He says that it only happens when you are willing to respond and you acquire the ability to answer another. Love makes you think about the other, but it is not about that person, it is only about you.
Sadhguru wrote in an article about love: “I am not trying to belittle relationships, but there is nothing wrong in looking at the limitations of what it is. It has limitations, but that does not mean it has no beauty. A flower is so beautiful, but if I crush it, it will become manure in two days. I can destroy a flower in a moment, but does that reduce the beauty and significance of what the flower is? No. Similarly, your love is fragile. Do not believe fanciful things about it. At the same time, I am not denying the beauty that is attached to it.”
