Luke Littler says he had ‘not even 10 minutes of practice’ before winning the Bahrain Darts Masters on his debut in the World Series last week.

The teenage sensation was brilliant in his first tournament since the World Championship, downing Nathan Aspinall, Gerwyn Price and then Michael van Gerwen to get his hands on the trophy.

He also landed a 9-darter in his quarter-final against Aspinall, in the very first leg, as he proved that his amazing run to the Alexandra Palace final was no fluke.

The incredible talent of the 17-year-old is clear for all to see and it was demonstrated as he surged to success in Bahrain without any sort of preparation.

Littler says that he had barely thrown a dart at all between the World Championship final on 3 January and the event getting underway in Bahrain on 18 January.

Asked by The Guardian for the best moment of the last month, Littler said: ‘Probably going to Bahrain last week and winning that tournament with not even 10 minutes of practice,

‘No one believed me when I said I’d not thrown a dart since the World final.’

On how he managed to rustle up the perfect leg immediately against the Asp, he said: ‘It’s just what I do. I hit a nine-darter in Gibraltar in 2021 when I was 14.’

Littler takes on Dirk van Duijvenbode in Den Bosch on Friday night and is relishing another chance at a title.

‘I was really happy to beat three great players in Nathan, Gezzy and Michael. It was amazing!’ Littler said of Bahrain.

‘I believe in my own ability and that is what gets me over the line each time.

‘The standard is going to be good once again. It’s going to be tough, but it should be a great weekend, and it would be a massive bonus to win another title.’
