Amit Shah interview| ‘Infiltration happening only in one state…’: Home Minister says
In a fresh salvo against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee, Union Home Minister Amit Shah alleged that the latter’s government does not see infiltration as a national security threat but as a potential “vote bank”.
Shah was speaking in an exclusive interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi.
When it comes to infiltration, it is currently happening in only one state and that is West Bengal, said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader. He further added that it is only because of Mamata Banerjee government’s blessings.
“This is because she sees infiltrators as a vote bank. They do not see infiltration as a national security threat rather they think that their vote bank is growing. This is a very dangerous thinking not only for Bengal but for the entire country,” Shah said in the interview.
He further appealed to the people of the state to make the saffron party successful in the Lok Sabha elections 2024 and ensure the formation of a BJP government there.
“We will build such a border that not even a bird will be able to sneak across,” said Shah.
Shah’s comments came just a few days after he hit out at Mamata Banerjee, saying she did not attend the Ram temple inauguration ceremony in Ayodhya due to fear of losing out on her ‘infiltrator’ vote bank.
The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader further said that this Lok Sabha election is about deciding whether people want “parivar raj or Ram rajya” in the country. “Mamata Banerjee and the TMC leaders didn’t attend the Ram Mandir consecration programme, as she was afraid that infiltrators, who are her party’s vote bank, might get offended,” Shah said.
Meanwhile, he also alleged that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) wanted to “protect the Sandeshkhali culprits”, but the BJP will punish them.
